About the System
Food circulation traceability system done with RFID technologies aims to develop modern logistics. With technologies in information acquisition, information transmission and information treatment, the system electronizes such processes as certificate & invoice application and standing book for food and goods circulation, thus forming a QS link which allows traceability of food origins and destination as well as identification of responsibilities.
The system, through RFID technologies as well as relevant information transmission technologies and information treatment technologies, builds a regional food circulation safety traceability system where such links as livestock cultivation, slaughter & processing, vegetables plantation, food processing, transportation, wholesale and retail are integrated into the online supply chain monitoring system. In this way, the traceability of food circulation throughout the whole process in realized. Having found and disposed fake and poor-quality food the first time will effectively reduce the likelihood of similar problems, increase confidence of consumers and safeguard physical health and life safety of the public.
1. Information acquisition and traceability
Food circulation from production to sales includes following links: raw materials procurement, processing, distribution, wholesale and retail. Starting from raw materials, the solution realizes not only forward information tracking from raw materials procurement to food retail but backward traceability from food retail to raw materials procurement by binding RFID electronic tags in various forms with real-time information produced by RFID cards of supply chain staff, and uploading/downloading quality information and data produced during processing, distribution, wholesale and retail. As a result, operators in the food supply chain are constrained and active support is provided to competent governmental authorities for monitoring and integrated analysis of food circulation.
2. Information regulation
Based on characteristics of food safety supervision and management, the system may be divided into two parts: front-end data acquisition and back-end data management. The front-end data acquisition refers to acquisition of data produced during the whole process by monitoring relevant food production activities. The acquisition operation is based on RFID technologies. The back-end data management refers to statistics, analysis and distribution of real information acquired by the front-end from each link. A common monitoring supporting platform at the provincial level will be constructed in a centralized way with interfaces reserved for management information system of national food processing industry. The platform is made available to provincial, municipal and county entity with corresponding authority. The monitoring platform includes front main interface and background operation interface for collecting, analyzing, inquiring and monitoring data throughout the food supply chain.
By distributed data processing and centralized monitoring, the monitoring platform will monitor and collect information of such central links as incoming raw materials inspection, qualification certificates, quarantine & inspection, bio-safety disposal and food distribution with video cameras installed in the food processing centers.
3. Query by consumers
After buying food, consumers may check food information, including origin of raw materials, supplier, processor, wholesaler, retailer and shelf life, with available traceability receipt through SMS, Internet, telephone and self-service terminals to ensure guaranteed food sources and quality.
1. Various information technologies are applied to form an integrated monitoring system from cultivation, food processing, supply chain to consumers. It improves the monitoring capability of governmental authorities and ensures food safety;
2. It reduces room for fake and low-quality food, lowers enterprise operation risks and increase economic benefits of enterprises;
3. It helps enhance management control of circulation process and develop an effective constraint mechanism for production and operation;
4. It helps increase accuracy of quarantine and inspection, increase confidence of consumers and safeguard physical health and life safety of the public.
